Therapeutic Tropical Tranquil Psoriasis Retreat FAQ
1. What is it?
Deepa Health has organized a unique and powerful tropical immersion psoriasis treatment program combining several medical modalities in specific therapeutic environments, chosen so even the air is nourishing to the skin. This retreat program includes ample relaxation time & nature exploring, as well as personal private treatment sessions, lifestyle wisdom & guided visualization sessions, and instruction in gentle therapeutic movements & exercises. These movements are specific to decrease stress, cleanse and strengthen the skin and organs, and increase self confidence and well being.
The tropical environments of the beach and volcanic geothermal hot springs provide salt water, UV exposure, steam & volcanic mineral mud therapies, and mineral laden hot water soaks for all participants and guests. Once you complete the registration process, participants will have a telephone health conversation with Deepa, and if you so choose, you can begin some therapies before you even arrive in Costa Rica!
2. What's the schedule?
This traveling group will include three days at the volcanic healing waters of a private hot springs resort on the side of Volcan Miravalles. We will have healing volcanic mineral "mud" treatments, steam treatments, lifestyle wisdom sessions, ancient healing movement & exercise lessons and private healing sessions in this relaxing fresh mountain environment. Also available are rainforest tours and horse back riding, and other travel & eco tours in the plentiful free time.
The next three nights are in the small fishing village of Playa Coco, were we will stay in a private Villa with unrivaled views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. We will sun & swim around our infinity pool, wander and play on the beach, take eco tours dine in our own splendid dining room with our private cook, and of course continue with the lifestyle wisdom and private healing sessions.
3. What are the accommodations?
The hot springs resort is simple, yet elegant. The lovely natural environment in and around the hot springs makes a superb location to enjoy the many pools from cool to hot, steam sauna, water slide and gardens. The rooms are ample, clean double and triple occupancy cabañas (1 to 5 beds), with covered porches and tropical hardwood benches to enjoy the natural splendor from. The resort serves fresh food that's grown on the surrounding farms in Guayabo area, and also allows 24 -hour use of hot springs facilities for overnight guests. The resort is located on the side of Volcan Miravalles, in the mountains outside of Fortuna de Bag aces and Guayabo. It is an hours drive from the Liberia International Airport (LIR is the airport code).
After three tranquil and therapeutic nights at the hot springs resort, we're off to the azul waters of Playa Coco were we will stay in a private Villa just above the beach, with a pool and view that can't be beat. With our own cook and maid we will have all you need (if you like you can make a list of what you need and it will be waiting for you in our refrigerator). With the entire magnificent estate to ourselves you can sun, lounge, swim, and dine in complete splendor & privacy. Between private treatments and shared lifestyle wisdom sessions feel free to stroll the beach, shop in the extensive tourist art galleries, whale watch or enjoy any one of the many ocean or land adventures, all while taking in the sun, ocean breeze and gentle waves of this sleepy Guanacaste beach. If you prefer you can sample Tico (Costa Rican) night life in Playa Coco, there are some surprisingly luxurious restaurants, beach bars and hot spots that help explain what puts the "sleepy" in this little town.
4 . Where are the Retreats held, and is it hard to get to?
The Retreat is going to be in some of the loveliest, and mellow parts of Costa Rica. Were as the Ticos (Costa Ricans) would say it's "muy tranquillo" these spots have been chosen for their beauty and healing aspects, to bring about a positive change for all who come.
The closest airport is Liberia, the capital city of the Province of Guanacaste, and it's International Airport code is LIR. Round trip flights from Los Angeles to Liberia range from 300 to 700 dollars, depending on the time of year.
San Jose is about 3-4 hours away from the class site, and we can help provide you with transportation arrangements. If you wish to rent a car, we can provide instructions on driving to the retreat site Conational airlines was offering round trip flights from Los Angeles California to San Jose Costa Rica for $364 in March of 2010.
There are infinite combinations of cabs, busses, hired transport vans, and rental cars to get you to the hot springs. You might want to arrive early or stay late to explore some of the other wonderful parts of Costa Rica, and we will happily make recommendations or reservations for you.
5. What is the weather like?
Most of the time it will be a warm and humid for most of us the hot springs area tends to be a little cooler as it is in the mountains and it is not as hot as near the ocean. It is a tropical rainforest, so be prepared for an occasional shower. The rain is warm, and I have found that light clothes that dry quickly are best. When I hike in my waterproof windbreaker I find that the sweat and heat of it is more irritating then that of getting a little wet from the rain. I like light weight easy dry long sleeve shirts, boots and umbrellas. Sometimes at night it cools down, so some fleece clothes that are warm wet or dry and dry quick might be nice to bring along.
6. What do I need to bring for retreat?
Bring a relaxed and healing attitude leave the stress from work and home behind. Bring light easy to dry clothes and remember that part of the retreat is in a rain forest, so come prepared with waterproof shoes and an umbrella. It can get cool at night, even in the tropics at these elevations so pack a light fleece, rain coats are a overkill as it is too hot and you get just as wet inside .
Bring all prescriptions medicines you need. waterproof shoes, sandals, clothes, umbrellas, hat, sun glasses, sun screen, bug spray and flashlight. Now you can shop and get all these things in Costa Rica, but remember to leave your self time to do so.
You may want to bring field glasses, cameras, bird watching needs, and a small note pad. However we're hoping that you will spend time enjoying, sharing, listening and comprehending -- not just taking notes.
